Sweet Anticipation

Just under a week until Easter Sunday, when I shall get to wear this adorable beaded number I picked up for only a few dollars at the Country Living Fair a couple years ago. Although not the first time I have used this ultra-cute vintage purse, it is the first time I've taken her out in a while. Most of her days are spent prettying up the handle of a closet door, but I am eager to release her of her decorative duties this Sunday.
I recently bought a vintage-inspired, pale lavender cardigan at Old Navy and think the two pieces will look fetching together. Generally, when I buy a new article of clothing, I immediately don the piece the very next day. However, I have been a good girl and resisted the urge to showcase my sweater until Easter Sunday.
So far, I have made it 10 days. Let's see if I can last these next 6.....
     ..... until then...
...I'll suffice....
 ...to dream on....

What are you currently dreaming about?

Personalize Your Phone

If you are like me, I was highly non-plussed by the wallpaper background images that came pre-installed on my cell phone. Every time I slid my phone open, I would frown at the cold, often gimmicky wallpaper background that greeted me.

I am the type of person who loves to surround herself with the lovely and the cheerful. I tried taking pictures of loved ones and placing them as my phone's wallpaper, but would inevitably be annoyed by the poor placement of the date and time (most generally smack dab in the middle of a face).

Finally, one grey day, while writing a letter to a friend, I thought... Why not take a phone picture of my favorite stationary and then set that as my wallpaper? The fun patterns never cease to bring a smile to my face. And I no longer have to worry about whether or not the date and time will block out portions of a loved one's face. Rather, the white banner shines out against the colorful vintage prints I now use for my cell phone wallpaper.

Let me know what you use for your phone's backgrounds.... I love getting new ideas and sharing inspiration.

Charity Crochet

This morning, I had a lovely little surprise in my inbox ~ the link to the new Bernat Cares charity crochet website.

Charity crochet has always been very close to my heart. I used to be part of a Yahoo group called Project Rest Assured which donated afghans to orphans in the Cleveland area. We were a close community and I was so blessed to be a part of it. Our group was chaired by an incredibly inspiring woman. I learned so much from her not only about crocheting, but more importantly, what it means to live fully and graciously every day. She was our fearless captain, leading us in our combined efforts to lift up a small corner of our world. Sadly, she had to close the group after 3 years due to some serious health complications. I have felt a void since that time and have often wanted to fill it by joining a new charity group, but was unsure of where to look to compare groups and find one that was a good fit for me.

Enter, www.bernatcares.com. It is a fabulous resource of charity options in your area and around the country. You can connect with other charity crocheters (or knitters) to compare notes and share ideas or even promote a charity you are organizing. What amazed me was the volume of stunning free crochet and knit patterns that Bernat shares. Here is a link to one of my personal favorites: http//www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=4730. Bernat does require that you become of a member of their site in order to view the patterns in full. Joining is free and is well worth the two minutes it takes to create an account.

Happy Crocheting!

Unpected Springtime on a Winter Day

This afternoon was an initial bummer for me. In my alternate life, I am an intervention specialist who had a doctor appointment today.... At least that is what I thought. The appointment was made four weeks ago while riding shotgun in a car during a blizzard. Not the best scenario for correctly remembering things of import.

Fast forward to today. Every calendar in my home and work space confirmed my appointment at 1:30 this afternoon. My sub plans were diligently prepared down to the tee, I actually secured a sub for a half day (which is no easy feat), and otherwise cleared my schedule for the remainder of the day. Entering the doctor's office with a smug 5 minutes to spare, I was dismayed when the receptionist informed me that my appointment is actually for tomorrow at 1:30.

After releasing a couple primal screams in my car, I began driving and eventually realized a heart-lifting truth. There was a bright side to this horrifically embarrassing situation. I now had the unexpected opportunity to visit a local craft store and was rewarded with the pleasant discovery of some fabulous springtime curiosities. Once home, I could not (of course) resist the quirky photo op, thus ending the day on a surprisingly cheery note.

The First of Many

At this incredibly late time, I am creating my first blog post ~ sending it out into the vast reaches of the internet domain. This is nearly verging on preposterous behavior for me as I am known for being safe and snug in my bed by 10 pm each night. But the spirit of what is new and exciting has gripped me and I could not leave my blog bare of even one minuscule posting. Should you, dear Reader, stumble upon this late night ramble of mine, I apologize. Be patient with me, for there is a wonderful community brewing here on this page. It just needs to be steeped in the warm and happy waters of time and chance. As it ages, this lovely little blog of mine will transform into a vibrant collage of all things vintage, cozy and creative. Till then, sweet dreams and happy brewing.
