A Little Blog Break...

Dear Friends,

I have not forgotten our lovely blog community. The end-of-year rush for me is here (in my real-life, I am a special education teacher) and in the midst of all this season's usual insanity my four-week, master's summer class started, too! I'll be back in a week or so when my 20-page research paper (about blogging as a reflective practice for educators, oddly enough ;) is happily done and turned in! Until that sweetest of times, I will bid you all adieu. Looking forward to being with you all regularly again soon!

A Quick Facelift...

...for my mini-journals!

Pleasure immediately filled my heart when I picked up these happy little darlings that were clearanced out at Target a few summers ago. I bought a couple in each pattern.

Now, two years later, while I still adore them, my next set needed freshened up before I could put them to use.

Solution?

Cath Kidston sticker labels, of course! I got a pack as a Christmas gift and they have transformed so many unexpected objects in my everyday living. I love how the label border designs compliment the notebook patterns like a favorite country quilt.

Timely Help

Ever get tired of wristwatches turning up in random, never-to-be remembered places?

I've lost mine in trays of paperwork, under piles of folded laundry, within drawers of assorted minutiae, on top of cabinets, beside the kitchen sink, in the small space between my nightstand and bed (where it fell after my cat batted it over the table edge for her own personal feline amusement having been unable to resist the force of its shiny attraction).

I was tired of forgetting such a vital accessory or (worse yet) remembering to look for it, but not in enough time to retrieve it from one of the many remote locations in which it could be hiding before having to scurry out the door watch-less to work.

Now, I no longer have that problem, since I began corralling my watches in a pretty, little votive cup on my vanity. By nestling it amid the other necessities I use every morning to get ready for the day, I rarely ever forget my watch and always know where to find it. Not only is this a highly functional time-saver for me, but it is also pleasing to the eye as well.

Let me know what helps you get ready for the day more efficiently.

So many books!

And so little time
But, thankfully
summer is coming.
An opportunity to get
my feet back under me
and my nose in a book....
many, many books
(hopefully)

Nothing like revisiting old friends or
making some new ones

My First...

...crochet pillow! I had some red scraps and a skien of faux mink yarn that were calling my name. I knew I didn't have enough coordinating scraps to make an afghan, but then I remembered a pile of pillow forms I bought recently. So voila! It was a short, simple, rewarding project that I intend to try again in future.

As Always

Another project is in the works. Actually several at one time. I am anxious to share one soon. Hopefully, one will appear on here by tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned.
