Cuppycake Purse

This free Red Heart pattern worked up well and relatively quickly. I must confess that patterns which require redoing the same motif a second time to make a back get a little monotonous for me, but the payoff was well worth the effort. Sewing on the little round dots was probably the most tedious part of the whole affair, but the results were so cute that I am all ready thinking of making another!

Celebrate!

As soon as I saw this incredible creation sitting on my aunt's table, I knew I had to snap a picture so I could share its incredibly-cute adorableness with you! This cupcake is in fact the product of a floral delivery - white carnations arranged in foam set in a vase shaped like a cupcake wrapper. What an ingenious idea! My aunt couldn't remember what florist
had brought it to her door that day, but wow!
It certainly added a smile to my day!

What are you celebrating today?
For me, it is the first day of school with all the kiddies back in the building. After 3 days of in-service, it was nice to finally hear the little feet traipsing down the hall, see the sea of bobbing backpacks making their way to new classrooms, and hear their young, happy voices share excited greetings with friends not seen since the end of the last grade. This is one of my favorite days of the school year. They all behave like little angels! And will... until Friday anyway ;-)

May joy fill your heart with a celebratory spirit!

Yummy

Blueberry muffins in oh-so-cute baking cups.
Mmmmm...

Not much going on here today. Helped Mimsie unload literally thousands of pounds of food at the food pantry she heads for our church. Tuckered us out, but for a worthy cause so its a good tired. Heading back to school tomorrow. First day for teachers.
Kiddos come back next Wednesday. Wish me luck!

Have a happy day!

Cute as a Cupcake Baby Headband

I crocheted this while waiting for my sister's college commencement to begin this past May. The base consisted of 2 or 3 chains connected to form a ring. After sc-ing 5 times in the ring, I made chain loops in each sc for the next round. For a frillier posy, I went back and added more loops into the same 5 sc until the flower achieved the desired fullness. Each chain loop varied from 7-9 chains with shorter chain loops in the front and longer ones in the back. The cupcake button sewed easily into the flower's center. Sewing the posy onto the elastic headband was even easier ~ almost like threading butter. I guess you could say this project was a piece of cake!
A piece of cupcake that is ;-)
*cue cheesy laugh track now*

I Love Cupcakes...

...all sparkley and ready to be hung on a package or string...

... or lined up in a column of felty goodness for all to see...

... and crocheting a cupcake? I could never resist!

When I found this potholder pattern a couple weeks ago on Ravelry, I nearly fell over with happiness. I must confess that it is several inches larger than I had anticipated when first starting out which makes it a little unwieldy unless folded over for use. Also, my edge stitches must have gotten tighter than my central stitches because the finished product poofs and waves a bit more than I would like. All in all, I still really enjoyed creating this cupcake potholder. If you are interested in this adorable pattern, go for a look-see over here.
